PayPal has been part of the e-commerce scene for many years, at least 10 that I personally know of.
PayPal are owned by eBay who bought them in 2002 and I have been using PayPal, without any complaints,
for many years. I use PayPal on this website via the Payments menu showing along the top right of this
website.
So how can PayPal work for you? In its simplest form, you can take credit card payments over the Internet
using PayPal as your payment gateway. In a nutshell, you receive a payment into your PayPal account. From
there you can either use this account as a payment method for your own purchases or have the credits transferred
to your bank. PayPal charges 2.5% of the transaction amount plus a small administration charge of .30 cents.
Note, that these numbers may change so please check with the PayPal website for current prices.
To have PayPal work on your website, first join PayPal and step up from a private account to premier account
to be able to accept credit cards across the Internet. PayPal will ask you to verify who you are before setting
up your account to be fully functional.
Next, go to PayPal, look for website standard payments and follow the information available there to create a
website button for your website. You will then need to paste the link into your web page for visitors to use.
MJ Computing.com.au is happy to assist in this process. We charge $35 to assist with the setup of the PayPal
button on your website. If you need extended assistance, then our professional fee rates will apply.
