When names expire, you will be notified by email that the domain name is due for renewal.
This is a very important point. If the email address that is shown in the whois public record
is not current, you will miss receiving the renewal notice and it can become a major problem
for you to recover the name. Generally if the name is not renewed within 30 days of expiry
then it will be made available for registration again.
Be aware that allowing the domain name to lapse will mean that the website will not be
seen on the Internet. This can happen almost immediately that the name expires. This effects
all website functionality including emails, blog traffic etc.
In this day and age, if the name has been popular in the search engines and had reasonable
visitor traffic, it may well be a sought after name and could quickly be snapped up when the
name is dropped or made available for registration.
So, the message is, keep your email address current. You do this by logging into your domain
name account with MJ Computing.com.au and look for the update contact details. From there you
keep all your details current.
To renew a domain name, log into your account and highlight or click on the domain name
that is due for renewal and follow the steps to register for a new term. Renewals may be paid
with a credit card and PayPal may also be an option.
